Dale Murphy Foundation Donates $1,500 to Peachtree City Little League Challenger Division

Sometimes the most important piece of baseball equipment isn't the bat — it's a generous heart. On July 17, the Dale Murphy Foundation presented a $1,500 donation and a bag full of signed gloves to the Peachtree City Little League Challenger Division, a program built for special needs players to learn and enjoy baseball alongside their peers.

This year, the Challenger Division welcomed 25 total participants, averaging 15 players a game — every one of them given the chance to play thanks to community support like this. PTC Challenger Division President Kevin Kranz said it best:

The Foundation's gift covers registration fees for every player in the division, along with the cost of jerseys and hats — meaning no family pays a dime to see their kid take the field. On top of the uniforms, each player also received a brand-new glove personally signed by seven-time All-Star and former Atlanta Braves great Dale Murphy.

A Cause Close to Home

For Dale and Nancy Murphy, this donation is personal. The couple has a son with special needs, which is part of why partnerships with programs like the Challenger Division sit so close to their hearts. Kranz called the connection a natural fit:

Nancy Murphy added that the day meant just as much to the Foundation as it did to the players: "We have family that live in Peachtree City, and we are always down here, so we are so excited and so grateful to be a part of your day. We want every kid everywhere to be able to play ball and learn the lessons and character that come from baseball."

During the presentation, every player lined up to high-five the Foundation team on their way to Murphy himself, who celebrated with each athlete and handed out gloves one by one. To close out the day, the players suited up in their new gear and played a full inning together — no cost, no barriers, just baseball.
